Warhammer Axe
This axe is based on concept art from Warhammer. It was created using a variety of tools including 3D Studio Max, Zbrush, Photoshop, and it is displayed in the Unreal 3 Engine.
With this project I wanted to try my hand at more handpainted textures while still maintaining a realistic feel to the piece. I chose this particular axe to build because it had such unique features, my personal favorite being the mustache. I felt it gave the axe a lot of character and I really tried to play that up in this piece. In fact, I think I spent most of my time detailing the mustache!
In total this project took around 9 hours to complete from start to finish, including modeling, unwrapping, zbrushing the details, texturing, and setting up and lighting the scene in Unreal. It is built up of 1,330 quads/2,637 tris.
