Toy Tree
This scene is based on art by Dean Morrissey. It was created using a variety of tools including 3D Studio Max, Zbrush, Photoshop, and it is displayed in the Unreal Development Kit.
I have a beautiful calendar filled with Dean Morrissey's art and I had a really hard time settling on one scene to create. I chose this because I liked the juxtaposition of the metal toys and the organic tree. I spent a lot of time painting the details into the tree and getting the normal maps for the bark just right.
In total this project took around 21 hours to complete from start to finish, including modeling, unwrapping, zbrushing the details, texturing, and setting up and lighting the scene in UDK. It is built up of 10,456 quads/20,168 tris - without terrain.
